Deconstructing Church
Re

WE, the church, ARE GOD's BUILDING, and Christ Jesus is both the Master Architect and the firm foundation upon which we are being built.
(1 Cor. 3:9 & 3:11; Matt. 16:15-18; Matt. 7:24-25)
However, while the foundation is and will remain sure and unchanging, portions of the
building have fallen steadily into disrepair due in large part to faulty builder (pastoral) oversight, detachment from the foundation, and a failure to fully and faithfully comply with the Master's building codes. It is a perilous predicament that calls to mind the Lord's stinging words as He angrily cleansed the temple in ancient Jerusalem. The pronouncement, "You have made My house a den of thieves", could include any number of other spiritual and moral failings in the American church today; compromise, political/partisan/racial divides, idolatry, sexual immorality, pride, greed, complacency, indifference to injustice, irreverence, and self-serving pursuits. This grievous unmooring has led many believers to walk away from church fellowships or to find themselves in a state of religious deconstruction.
But God is serious about His name and about the behavior of those who represent it. He is faithful to chastise those He loves and to renovate His church as a corrective work. At FELLOWSHIP, we desire to be a repentant people, humbly submitting to this work and obediently participate in it so that the love and light of the biblical Jesus would shine through us and illuminate the path by which others may see and find living hope as they come to be included at the table in God's Kingdom.
(Romans 2:24; Ephesians 2:4-5; Matt. 7:18-19; John 15:1-2; 1 Peter 4:17; Peter 1:3-9; Rev. 3:20).
